Membership Feedback

Thank you for your interest in becoming a member! Becoming a member of The SIWC Society will open the door to many opportunities. Here is some information to get you started.

We create opportunities for all of our Members by upholding our constitution of:

To build relationships with health practitioners and wellness providers who educate and empower our community about optimal health choices by:

a) cultivating opportunities that foster the development of relationships between all health-related fields to better serve the area covered by the Saanich Peninsula Geographic with resource directories and a website;

b) providing educational opportunities for all members and the community via educational seminars, conferences, and health fairs.

Member Benefits:

  1. Networking and referral sources
Meeting regularly with fellow members gives you fantastic chances to inform others of your work and cultivate strong referral sources.

  2. Participation in community events
By engaging in community activities, members can educate the public and gain valuable exposure for their business.

  3. Discounts and priority status for the Health Fair
Members receive significantly reduced rates for Health Fair booths and are placed at the head of the line for booths.

  4. Enhanced printed SIWCS membership directory
A polished new look to the directory this year gives you chances to highlight your business and gives the public a handy guide to health and wellness.

  5. An improved SIWCS website directory
With a new capacity to link to your own website, the website directory is a valuable asset for your work.

  6. Advertising discounts
As a group, the SIWCS members have better opportunities for advertising at reduced rates.

  7. Monthly health column in the Peninsula News Review
A new approach to the column now gives each member the chance to get personal exposure for contributions to the health column.

  8. A voice in municipal decision making
A SIWCS representative sits 2 municipal committees and brings the perspective of health and wellness providers to the table.

  9. Learning and support
The SIWCS is an organization where members are constantly broadening their knowledge of complimentary health care choices and supporting each other to meet the challenging demands of our clients.

  10. Membership is 100% tax deductible.

The Association has four types of members:

  1. Full Members - Any person wishing to be a full member of the association will either operate or be employed by a health-related business located in The Saanich Peninsula Geographic.

  2. Associate Members - Any person wishing to join the association that does not qualify as a full member can join as an associate member.   Associate members do not have the right to sit on the Association Council or to vote in general meetings.

  3. Lifetime Members - Lifetime memberships are granted from time to time by the council as a way to honour a person that has contributed above and beyond the call of duty to health and wellness in the region.  Lifetime members have all the rights of full members but are not required to pay any fees.

  4. Not-for-Profit Members – Any health-related group or organization that is committed to the vision, mission and values of the Association can join as a not-for-profit member.  Individual members of the not-for-profit group may be listed as health practitioners and wellness providers in our directory.  Only one of this group will have the right to sit on the SIWC executive council and/or vote at the Annual General Meeting

Testimonials

"We referred lots of our clients to practitioners of the SIWC society and at the same time sold our products to SIWC members and their clients. Because they were able to experience our service and product they loved to refer us. Our Meditation benches made out of reclaimed wood are now in lots of households at the Peninsula."

“I love the meetings, because ongoing education is one of my passions. The SIWC monthly meetings are not just a business meeting, they really represent our mission to create the healthiest community, and the Potluck is an example of local healthy yummy food to share.”

"Being an SIWC member made me so much aware of myself, I make sure that I get treatment from other SIWC member, for my own health and to be able to refer to the right practitioner"
